General Info

Kobako Katsu, located at 11301 Lakeline Blvd suite 124, Austin, TX 78717, is a Korean restaurant that quietly stands out among the dining spots in the Lakeline area. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming, making it an easy choice for a casual dinner or a quick meal after a long day. The space is simple and comfortable, and the counter service keeps everything moving smoothly without sacrificing quality.

One of the things that immediately caught my attention was how focused the menu is. Instead of overwhelming guests with too many options, Kobako Katsu highlights a handful of dishes that they clearly take pride in preparing well. The Texas King Katsu Curry is easily one of the standout plates. It arrives hot and generous, with crispy katsu paired with a rich, savory curry that has just the right level of depth and warmth. The balance between the crunchy coating and the smooth curry sauce makes every bite satisfying.

Another popular choice from the menu is the Chicken Katsu with Fries Combo. It’s a simple combination, yet it works perfectly for anyone craving something comforting and filling. The chicken is breaded and fried until golden, while the fries add a familiar, crispy side that makes the dish especially appealing for both adults and kids. Speaking of kids, the restaurant feels very family-friendly, and it’s easy to see why many reviews mention it as a good spot for families.

If you’re in the mood for something slightly different, the Meatball Rose Pasta offers a nice twist. The creamy rose sauce pairs well with the tender meatballs, creating a dish that feels both hearty and comforting. It’s a good example of how Kobako Katsu mixes familiar comfort food with Korean-inspired flavors.

For those who enjoy sharing plates, the Chicken Wings are also worth ordering. They come out crispy and flavorful, making them a great option to start the meal or enjoy alongside other dishes. Many diners seem to order them as an appetizer while waiting for their main plates.

The location itself is easy to access, and the wheelchair accessible parking lot makes visiting convenient for everyone. While the restaurant offers a relaxed dine-in experience, the efficient counter service keeps the process quick and straightforward, especially during dinner hours when the place can get busy.

Overall, Kobako Katsu feels like one of those neighborhood spots where the focus is clearly on delivering comforting food and a pleasant dining experience. Between the thoughtfully crafted menu, convenient location, and consistently satisfying dishes like Texas King Katsu Curry and Chicken Katsu with Fries Combo, it’s a place that locals often return to and happily recommend in their reviews.

“ Honestly shocked at some of the very poor reviews bec we found the food to be above expectations for a food hall, counter service, and we’ve had a lot of subpar food at this food hall before. We ordered the curry chicken katsu and the pork belly skewers. The pork belly was tender and the caramelized sauce and bites of green onion were delicious. A little pricey but very tasty. The katsu was crispy and well made. Curry was yummy but a little lukewarm on a cold day. The slaw was a perfect accompaniment. Didn’t care for the cup of broth that it came with. Service was a little slow and this food hall is always noisy and crowded. But glad to have found a place I actually like in H-Mart and will return. ”

“ The food is some of my favorite in Austin. The pork katsu is so tender. I normally don’t eat left overs because I think they taste gross with the fridge taste, but they give so much food for the price you’re bound to have left overs. I put mine in the air fryer and it’s still just as delicious as when I first got it. I cannot begin to tell you how good this place is. This place is a must try. As a chef , I appreciate the amount of consideration in the plating, it’s absolutely beautiful. ”

“ We got the tesas size chicken breast with curry sauce. We've also tried the chicken breast curry bowl with rice too. It's all been very good! Portions are huge. ”

“ It’s been a while eating here and saw that they had new menu, looks like mexican fusion style. We got the texas king katsu, chicken cream pasta and pulled beef with fries. Our usual habit is always the texas katsu and pasta, sometimes bacon pasta sometimes katsu pasta sometimes other pasta. The pulled meat with fries is okay, very standard bbq flavor with fries, sauce and bunch of pickle. Very oily at the bottom. The pasta is okay, i just choose pasta, just because. My husband always take the texas katsu. And i always snatch few bites. Their katsu size was humongous and 2 pieces. For their price, it was very worthwhile!! Even if the price increases quite high within these past 2-3 years, it still worth the money. We ate the katsu 2x, which shown how big the portion. As for the side, it slightly changes, which we didn’t care that much. Service not so much and very basic since it was a food court and just a cashier. Atmosphere also decent, food court after all. So yeah, if we go to h-mart, it always be the texas katsu to order. Others probably just an extra side. ”

“ I got the curry chicken katsu bowl. The katsu was crispy and hot. The curry was not bad, but too creamy for me. I would have liked more curry aroma and flavor. I would come back to try other katsu though. ”

“ Didn't like it, didn't hate it.. I think this food court is always busy, it takes away a lot from food to service.. Had the pork katsu.. perfect size for me, however, very small serving of rice and macaroni salad was weird and dry.. miso soup was a plus.. katsu sauce is different from what I'm used to.. shredded cabbage was perfection.. ”

“ I ordered the Texas King Katsu and I really did not expect to be the actual size of Texas haha. Really though its huge and delicious. You can even hear the cook or whoever pounding the pork in the back tenderizing the meat so you know its fresh and authentic. The Texas King Katsu can easily feed two to three people so keep that in mind if the price kinda scares you. Love this place and I hope we can keep going back often. ”

“ Calling katsu lovers The katsu is in large portions and came with sides. I personally did not enjoy the sides except for the coleslaw. The C2 was a good choice for curry. It's inside H-Mart but on a separate side. The space had alot of other vendors to choose from and lots of seating. When your order is placed they will give you a buzzer so you can go find seating. The staff was very kind and our food came quickly. We recommend this for katsu lovers wanting a quick fix. ”
